Then I was super-lucky and won a giveaway. I'm a lucky asshole.
The lovely MOV over at Mothers of Brothers Blog was giving away her book. I discovered MOV via Marianne at We Band of Mothers, (who I discovered via Kirby at Kirb Appeal) on the same fortuitous day.
When MOV said she was giving away her book, I "ass"umed she meant Epic Mom, which she co-wrote with Marianne. I have no idea why I assumed that. Wait. Epic Mom shows up at the top of her blog page. Okay, I'm going with that excuse. I think she was actually giving away Mom's Had A Rough Day.
But I gushed on about how I love both her and Marianne and can't wait to read more from both of them.
Here's the envelope they arrived in:
She sent me both.
Oops.
Asshole got a bonus book and now feels a little bit guilty. But only a little bit.
Because I scored 2 great books! Woohoo! THANKS MOV!
Have you ever been an asshole and have it work out to your advantage? I highly recommend it.
And here's a little tribute to all of the assholes out there. Including me.
I almost didn't post this video because this asshole spelled something wrong on almost every slide. He even spelled Jimmy's last name wrong.
Asshole.
******Update******
I just realized she WAS giving away Epic Mom.
Turns out I'm not such an asshole after all and this post is completely pointless.
I suppose I've had my moments of assholishness in my life, but I've NEVER been lucky at the same time. So good for you! And happy birthday presents no matter who they are for! But.....what about your dust? One more thing.............LOVE the song! Never heard it! You are SO good for me, broadening my horizons, increasing my knowledge, all that good stuff. Guess you'll be my mentor from now on, huh? Oh, and for anyone out there who wants to BE an a-hole.....yes, assholishness IS a word. Is now, anyway. Dona
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed how many people hadn't heard that song! PHIL had never heard it!!!
DeleteNo freaking fair. When I read the title I knew exactly what I was gonna leave for a comment. Then like you always do, because great minds think alike, if not a bit twisted, you already knew the Asshole Song. That song is legend in my family.
ReplyDeleteat this point I am laughing so hard, tears are running down my legs :)
ReplyDeleteNothing is ever totally pointless. ;)
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing this song the first time in a bar on the jukebox and the people in the bar all started singing the song in a big drunken chorus. I laughed through the whole song! ;)
I love, love, love them! And you rock, too! I am going to be in Illinois this summer! We need to meet up!!
ReplyDeleteCan we do a three-some? In the cleanest version of the expression as possible?
DeleteI'm game.
DeleteI have never heard this song, Andi! How is that possible?
ReplyDeleteI love Epic Mom. You got two fantastic books, you lucky asshole!
I knew I loved you.
Listen to Tina....she is very wise....
DeleteThis reminds me of one of my favorite stand-up routines. Bill Cosby: "I once asked a person what's so great about cocaine. He said 'it intensifies your personality'. I said 'Yes, but what if you're an asshole?'"
ReplyDeleteLucky you, my husband is having a birthday and when we asking him what he wants he says "nothing" I could hit him because if he got nothing he would be hurt and upset
ReplyDeleteAh, but being an asshole gives you so many excuses, and the older you get, the more you need believable excuses.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna try to be an asshole today, you never know what good could happen from it!
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to think you can't renovate a house without being an a$$hole in some form. Congrats on your win and on getting a new laptop!
ReplyDeleteA double win!!! You are definitely not an a$$hole! Just very clever and very very lucky!! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteSnort. I love that this post was completely pointless. Glad you got your laptop so you can continue to keep me updated on what's important in life...being an asshole.
ReplyDelete1. Where are the brownies? 2. Why did you get 2 books? 3. Where are the brownies?????
ReplyDeleteI'm always an asshole and it always works to my advantage. Except the time some guy asked if I was threatening him.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I'll be looking for your glowing review on Amazon shortly. Then Kirby & I will descend downstate and craft something with you. And by "craft," I mean drink. I'm buyin'.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank God you meant drink.
DeleteAndi,
ReplyDeleteYou were meant to win! Hope you like BOTH books. ;)
And sorry there were no brownies, but pictures of brownies are almost as good. Right? Right?
................. hello?
xxo
MOV
It was my density! :P But I really love brownies.....
DeleteWell done. Enjoy your books.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
Hey Andi, Congrats on winning the books! You are right I did go to the dark side and it's lonely over here. Probably wasn't one of my best ideas. Stay where you are!! I need a laugh so you better post today!
ReplyDeleteOk I was sent an email from hometalk with your upholstered headboard feature, which led me here, and I have been stalking your blog for the past 3 hrs. My family is probably thinking I've lost my mind sitting in this room alone and laughing so hard! (My day had been anything but laughable, because certain people were being assholes). I love the asshole song and you have entertained me at exactly the right time with your stories. Thank you! You are not only funny but your makeover projects are absolutely amazing! I have not finished looking at all of them but Mr. Sandman is calling me now. I will be back!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks Carolyn! I'm happy to have you here! =D
