the cutest, sexiest shed of all time

Well, hello there! We haven't chatted in a while, so I thought I'd catch you up on a project Phil whipped up last summer during my little blog-cation.

We're not new to the shed-building business. Phil built a shed at our old house, but the only thing that made it cute and sexy was me.

Mmmm...mmm...MMMM!

Compared to our new one, the old one was a real piece of shed.

We decided to up our game at the new place. Actually, the covenants required us to up our game whether we wanted to or not. The shed had to be made of the same materials we used on the house. And since we didn't side our house with hubcabs (like I wanted), we decided not to do that with the shed, either.

But it was tempting.

When we sat down and designed the shed, my main requirement was that it be cute. Like Eddie.

Phil built this shed almost completely on his own. We hired someone to pour the concrete slab, but then he took over and framed it with some help from our boys.

It begins.

We had a local business build the trusses.

Impressive, but remember the trusses for the house? That was a super-crazy day.

We used man-arm cranes to place these trusses.

Roof sheathing going on (because you know I can't resist a butt-shot.)

The shed got shingles (because at one time it had the chicken pox).

We wanted our shed to have shingles, so we did not vaccinate against them.

Celebrating his new man-cave:
Objects on roof are smarter than they appear.

Spoiler alert: He did not fall off the back of the shed.

He did, however, youtube his way into learning the siding and soffit business.

We had enough shake siding left over from the house to do the entire front of the shed. There was no way I wasn't going to use the shake, because that stuff cost almost as much as this picture of Phil riding his ladder is going to cost me.

Giddy-up.

After an Olympic-worthy, double-back-flip dismount, he painted the doors. See them peeking out? Those are the icing on the shed.

Look how happy our shed is now!

I will name him George and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him.

Isn't he cute?

While he may not be as cute as Eddie, I think we got the general color and styling correct, wouldn't you say? Eddie thinks so too.

Now THAT is the cutest, sexiest shed on our entire lot!

It just needs one more thing.

I must have pitched those turquoise sweats (oh, the humanity), so this was as close to a re-creation as I could get. And, as you can see, I'm creeping up there in age and am having some issues with facial hair.

What will live in the shed, other than Phil on a doghouse day? Since it's time to go in and depilate, that will have to be a story for another day.

Let's just say you'll be green with envy.

Have a happy and carefree hair-free weekend!

  3. Oh WOW... Ok, are you sure that's a shed? I think he is wanting a man cave... put a TV in there, some a/c... a cooler with beer. Yep. OR, maybe you should take it over and make it into extra closet/shoe space. Or, it could be a cottage off your house. It really is just too big and fancy to be a shed... and too cute with that red door. Y'all always impress me big time! LOVE IT!

  4. I laughed out loud at the shingles joke! Luckily I was alone since it was after 1:00AM! I love the shed, the red doors really pop! (Just like you!). I am wondering who the lady in your profile pic is because in both shed pictures you look totally different. Maybe it's just the beard! Lol! You are beautiful either way and I love your posts!

    1. I'm so glad someone got the shingles joke! I hate when good work goes unnoticed. ;) And, my dear Giselle, you MUST go and read the post from April 16, 2016. All will be revealed to you why I'm completely unrecognizable in most pictures!!

    2. I just read it and wow, you are a chameleon! And a hot one at that! I really love the red hair best but I'm a little biased being a redhead myself! You never disappoint, you are always good for several good laughs! I am going to start at the beginning and read everything now!

  5. Hell-oh! Men at work! I'm glad I can come back and look at the photos again later. How come my yard service guy isn't cute? Your plaid-shirt-with-the-print-top look is . . . interesting. If you think you have facial hair problems now, wait till you're in the nursing home and you have to beg someone to give you a shave.

    Love,

    1. I was so busy looking at the pictures that I missed the vaccination joke the first time around. I also forgot to say, Hi, Eddie! And my roofer quit. At least I got my money back, but now I have to find another damn roofer. And Penelope has gas that makes my eyes water.

  8. I love your sense of humor, woman! And I LOVE the new shed!! Especially the red doors, of course. Karma won't say hi to Eddie, but I will. (She's afraid of dogs...and other cats, for that matter.) Have a super weekend. :)

  9. Hahaha! I love the recreation of the shed loving photo. I am sorry to hear about your facial hair issues and hope that the depilating was a success. Also glad that Phil didn't fall off the shed like Magoo would have. George is almost as cute as Eddie...almost. I'll wait for the full effect of the green with with envy, but I must confess that it has already begun.

  10. Why is there not a link to your fashion blog?!?!?! Is the shed a theme-free zone, or are rashy painful ailments a clue?!?!

  17. Wow Andi, that shed looks fantastic. I love your color choice. We need something like this down by the pool. We were just looking at pre-built shed yesterday. Eddie is so sweet! Is he a Schnauzer? We have two Schnauzers...
